Colorpoint Shorthair

The Colorpoint Shorthair is the result of breeding between Siamese and other shorthair breeds, in particular the American Shorthair. These breedings were performed with the intent of enriching the color varieties and patterns in the Siamese. The Colorpoint Shorthair is a busy and active athlete and always on the go ‘ definitely not a couch potato.

Breed Details

Accepted colors are red, cream, seal tortie, chocolate tortie, blue/cream, lilac/cream, red lynx, cream lynx, seal lynx, chocolate lynx, blue lynx, lilac lynx, seal tortie lynx, chocolate tortie lynx, blue/cream lynx and lilac/cream lynx. The body color should be free of shading or marking and is a variation of white.

The Colorpoint and its cousins are never at a loss for something to do. Any crumpled piece of paper becomes an instant toy. Every corner of a room requires investigation on a regular basis. A scratching post that has been moved a few feet away from its previous position suddenly requires a thorough inspection.


Quirky temperament. These cats love people and want to be constantly involved in all their activities. They are sensitive cats and require lots of attention.


Elegance and refined boning. The head is a triangle. The head should consist of flat planes with a straight profile contributing a great deal to the cat's sometimes haughty look. Almond-shaped eyes are set at an angle, following the lines of the wedge. The body should be like a piece of fine porcelain, looking extremely fragile but in fact with great tensile strength. Long, fine legs and an endless whippy tail accent the long tube-shaped body.
