4 Different Dog Food And Treat Companies Issue Recalls Due To Potential Salmonella Contamination

Two illnesses have been reported in connection with one of the recalls.

Products from four dog food and dog treat manufacturers are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination. Salmonella can affect animals that ingest the product, as well as pose a risk to humans who have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.

Raws for Paws of Minneapolis, Minnesota, is recalling 5-pound and 1-pound sealed plastic tubes (aka “chubs”) of its Ground Turkey Pet Food after some packages tested positive for salmonella, according to the company’s press release on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website. The manufacture codes of the affected products are 9900008, 9900009, 9900014 and 9900015. The food was packaged in Turkey Pet Food cases with a manufacture date of 10/12/2017.

Raws for Paws is also recalling its combo pack cases with manufacture dates of 10/12/2017 and 2/2/2018.

Two illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall, according to the company.

Redbarn Pet Products, a Long Beach, California-based manufacturer of dog chews and other pet treats, is recalling its Redbarn 7-inch Bully Stick dog chews also due to potential salmonella contamination. The bully sticks, which come in a 3-pack, have an expiration date of 112120ABC stamped on the packaging and the UPC code is #7 85184 25105 8.

Darwin’s Natural Pet Products of Tukwila, Washington, is recalling certain lots of its ZooLogics dog food due to possible salmonella contamination as well.

The ZooLogics Chicken and Vegetable Meals and ZooLogics Duck and Vegetable Meals have been recalled. Via Darwin’s Natural Pet Products

Lastly, Smokehouse Pet Products of Sun Valley, California, is recalling its Beefy Munchies dog treats in the 4-ounce bag. This, again, is due to potential salmonella contamination. The treats have the UPC code 78565857957 printed on the packaging. The lot number is 449294, with a best used by date of 10/25/19.
