JACKIE is a mackerel female tabby who is seeking a very special home. Jackie was surrendered to the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center when she was only 3 weeks old. She was placed into a loving foster home until she weighed enough to be spayed and adopted. It was then that the vet found Jackie had a heart murmur and could not be spayed and therefore not adopted, at that time.
With the help of the shelter support group, Friends of Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center/Animal Control, funds were provided so Jackie could be examined by a cardiologist to get a definitive diagnosis. Tests were done by Dr. Small at Cove Veterinary Hospital and it was confirmed Jackie had a grade 6 out of 6 heart murmur but the type of murmur was one that Jackie could certainly have a normal life. It was recommended that Jackie not be spayed until she was older and upon her 6 month recheck with Dr. Small, Jackie was cleared to be spayed. Jackie was spayed by the shelter vet and brought back to her foster home to heal.
Jackie is all healed up from her spay and is now ready for her very own fur-ever home. She is 1yr old, loves people and even more, loves Temptations cat treats! Jackie is super sweet and once she gets to know you she will be the cat that will greet you at the door and head butt you for some loving.
The special person who adopts Jackie must understand even though she looks and acts like the picture of health, her heart murmur is real. It would be best if Jackie is placed into a quiet home without small children. She has been ”big sister” to many foster kittens and has never has issues with the resident cats. She loves to play, seeks human attention, and would love nothing better than having a home of her very own. Jackie’s foster mom will pay for half of Jackie’s adoption fee and pay for her cardiologist follow up exam in January 2017. Jackie is with her foster mom and can been seen by appointment by calling 757-375-8679. #1510-0398
