From the Foster: Alice is such a sweet dog. She loves to cuddle and thinks she is a lap dog. She loves to give kisses and is so excited about everything, all of the time. She is great with cats (has great boundaries with them), dogs and all people. I imagine she would love kids too, but she is kind of a bull in a china shop when inside the house, so children under 4 or so might not be the best idea. She does have a lot of energy, so I would definitely suggest a fenced-in yard and preferably another high-energy dog to play with. She loves toys, and frequently plays fetch with herself. Alice knows her name well and is very responsive so I would think keeping her name be a good idea. She has a hard time calming down inside the house, but is easily corrected and very smart. She would do best with a firm owner who can show her the ropes and give her some rules and direction. Alice is crate trained and 100% potty trained! Alice's only real flaw is that she does pull quite a bit on the leash. She is a very strong dog and can certainly be handled by a confident owner, but shouldn't go to someone who is expecting a docile walker. I think she could definitely be trained to be a great running partner (and would probably love it!), she would just need someone willing to work with her on this. We haven't tried a gentle leader or an easy walk harness yet either so those could be options as well. She also has a very loud bark that she does use occasionally so shared walls would probably not be encouraged. Alice is a very sweet dog who is always looking at her human to see if she is doing what is expected. She certainly aims to please and loves her people dearly. She would be a great addition to almost any active family!
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.

If you live in MN, WI, IA, SD, ND, or IL and would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at http://secondhandhounds.org/adoption-information/ and the foster(s) will be in touch! Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s). You only need to complete 1 application for multiple animals that you're interested in.
Note - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt that animal. We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.
