We got Amelia in rescue off of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation on 9/1. She showed up at a local home with a pack of other dogs looking for food scraps which the family did throw out. After all the scraps were gone, her pack proceeded to leave the family's yard but Amelia stayed behind begging to be loved and seeming to want to be a part of a family of her own. They called rescue immediately and said "we have one here who is very deserving of rescue" and she was picked up right away.
After a several hour transport and a week or so stay at the hospital for medical care, she was brought to us in MN. Upon walking into her foster home for the very first time, her eyes lit up! She reminded me of a kid in a candy store. Shocked and amazed and beyond thrilled to be in a home of her own. We are still learning about Amelia but we know so far that she is very sweet, eager to please, listens well, rides awesome in the car, is a sensitive soul acting sad when corrected, likes to chase cats initially but means no harm, is now friends with the kitty in her foster home and is great with other dogs.
She has recently completed treatment for mange and is doing very well with an all clear from future treatments from the sending vet. She still gets a little itchy from time to time which we are following up with a final once over from our local vet next week. She is young at 1yrs old and has typical husky, young girl energy. She is so sweet, definitely worthy of a meeting and most importantly, a forever family all her own!
