Hi, my word is “Andy”. Sometimes my foster mom and her friends say “Boo” and I like that too! I think I might be a black lab and rottie mix, maybe a bit of shepherd in there somewhere. My foster family calls me a “New Mexican Black Dog” because that is where I came from. I haven’t lived in Utah very long, but so far I have had a few adventures. I am only about a year old, and I recently went to the doctor, he said he was going to neuter me, whatever that means. I also have had shots and worming medicine so I will be my healthiest!
I absolutely love to play! I love to play with younger dogs closer to my age because they know just how to get wild and crazy like me! I get along with all dogs big, small and in between (my favorite friends right now are my foster brother Barklee, he is older than me but he loves to play too, and my great dane friend Sebastian is really fun. He is my age, with about 80 pounds on me but we have a BLAST!). I also have some little things in my house, I think they are cats? I don’t really mind them, most of the time I ignore them, they aren’t much fun!
I am still a pup at heart so I will chew on most anything you give me access to. I prefer bones and dog toys but I will take a shoe if that’s what I can find so be careful! I am crate trained, I prefer to sleep in my crate most nights, it’s my own little space in there! Don’t get me wrong though, I do LOVE cuddling and I’m pretty sure I am a lap dog. I am working on my leash training, I usually walk very easily on a leash. With enough exercise during the day I am a gentle sweetheart at home. I tend to make a little mischief on my own though, so when you’re getting to know me I will do best in my crate when you can’t be with me. I had some accidents when my foster mom first met me three weeks ago, but since then I have gotten the hang of living inside. I haven't had any accidents but my foster mom crates me at night and when I'm alone just in case!
I haven’t had the best interactions with people. I am a very sweet boy, but I don’t trust as easily as some dogs and it takes me a little bit of time to get to know you. My foster mom thinks maybe I was passed around a lot as a young lad, but we aren’t really sure because I’m not from around here. I am gentle and loving from the start, I just can’t get attached too fast because I’m not sure how humans work.
I haven’t been around a lot of kids. The kids I have met, I just love to run with them and chase. I tend to play with my mouth a little bit though. I’m not sure if most kids like that, my foster mom doesn’t think so, we are working on it. I am stubborn. I try to work on my training but I get distracted. Food helps a little bit, but I’m a pretty picky eater so it has to be something worth my time.
I have the cutest brindle boots, and beautiful black fur. My foster mom loves my eyes, I use them to get treats! Give me a chance please! I am a loving, good spirited boy who would make an excellent hiking partner. I love to go outside and have fun! I also will curl up with you at home if that’s what you need me to do. I am quiet and easy going, I will need training work, but I am young enough that with proper training I will be the best dog you ever knew!! Thanks for looking at me!
