Meet Annie. This adorable little Shih Tzu was rescued from a neglectful owner by a local animal advocate who was able to negotiate her release. When she came into the rescue she was a matted mess, her nails had grown into her paw pads, and her former owners were detached from her that they were not even aware of her gender, describing her as a male. This sweet young pup has a much better life awaiting her and is going to be very popular.
Annie has been in her current foster home for a few weeks now and is living with two other dogs, a cat, and a 14 yo boy who she prefers to sleep with at nights. Her foster mom describes her as quiet, but she’s starting to open up, and has taken a special liking to her foster dad. She’s laid back in the home, potty trained, and prefers to hang out on the couch during the day. She’s probably never had real affection from her family, but is learning that people can be kind to her and home is a good place. She’s 1 to 2 years old, and a tiny pup weighing only 8 lbs.
She needs a patient owner who has some time and patience to give her time and space to settle in. She would do best in a more calm home and would do well with other dogs or cats to keep her company. She is going to make a great companion pup for some lucky owner.

You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to http://foster.ddbnova.org and fill out an application.
