Dog's Name: Hero
Estimated Breed: Boxer/terrier
Approximate Age: 1year
Approximate Weight: 50 pounds
Currently Living at: FOSTER
Adoption Fee: $300
Hero had a tough start to life, having been born and raised outside, being attacked by an animal, and picked-up by Animal Control all by the tender age of 3.5 months old. Despite his bleak beginnings, Hero has turned into a sweet, fun-loving, gentle pup. He loves playing with his toys, hanging out in the grass on a beautiful sunny day, loves to snuggle up to his foster mom, and absolutely loves going for walks. He is medium-energy but when he has energy to burn, he goes outside and runs around the backyard in one large circle. He will fetch toys and sometimes bring them back and when playing with his toys, likes to do roll-overs.
Hero is still cautious around people but he has made huge progress and will blossom and bond with a patient family. Hero does well with other dogs, but dogs that are reactive, or very nervous transfer the energy on him and make him nervous too. Hero knows sit, down, drop, wait, and come and he listens very well. Hero is easily trainable and with more confidence building and patience, may grow out of his skittish behavior.
Adoption fees cover basic vetting, age appropriate distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for most common intestinal worms, heartworm testing if the puppy is older than 5 months of age, monthly heartworm prevention starting at 5 months of age, monthly flea/tick prevention starting at 12 weeks of age, and transport costs from the original shelter to a foster home. K-9 Lifesavers will provide this medical care to this adorable puppy until he or she is adopted. Once this pup is adopted, their forever family will assume all medical and financial responsibility for him or her. As part of the adoption agreement, adopters agree to get the pup spayed/neutered. K-9 Lifesavers does not cover the cost of spay/neuter.
