Foster Home Feedback
* No cats
** Needs to go to a home with another dog to feel comfortable
9/22/16: While Bailee still displays her sweet and sensitive nature around everybody, including children, summer has afforded her the opportunity to prove she is, indeed, a hound. Based on what happened to a baby bunny who strayed into the yard, I would now suggest that she not be in a home with cats, ferrets, gerbils, etc. She also definitely needs a home with a companion dog and the opportunity to go outside frequently. Her water intake causes her to need to urinate often, and she can't always wait. She seems to drink more when stressed, and possibly as a side effect of the allergy pills she takes. Her seasonal allergies worsened at the same time as mine did, so she took steroid pills to bring them back under control. She will probably need to stay on her daily Zyrtec year-round.

Bailee loves going for walks with her nose to the ground, getting attention, particularly from men, and snoring while snoozing. She will shred a stuffed toy when the mood or opportunity strikes, and she is a big fan of all things "treat". She doesn't get any people food at my house, so she doesn't beg. She does use her beautiful pleading brown eyes when she needs attention or a potty break. Her Beagle nirvana would include a man to adore, a doggie door, and a fenced-in yard to explore. Barring that, she would just love to find a happy forever home with people who appreciate her fine Beagle qualities.
7/6/16: I would like to say Bailee is rock-solid on her potty training, but it's a work in progress... Bailee's personality is coming out more. She is more willing to cuddle. you will love those soft, soft ears!
5/4/16: Bailee is a beautiful 32 pound blond with silky ears and doe eyes. She has a gentle and quiet nature, but will chime in with her canine companions if they strike up a chorus. She vocalizes like the beagle she is, displaying an extensive range, from deep-throated woofing to soprano whining. She gets along fine with the other members of the quintet now that she knows her role in the group. She was a bit assertive about food early on, but has figured out she will get her own meals and treats in due time.

Unlike her previous home, we have no doggy door, so she has had to learn to wait to piddle until she is let outside. She is doing pretty well now, but may need close monitoring in a new environment. She loves to drink water, but two thorough vet exams have turned up no issues other than a strong thirst. It may be stress related, or maybe she's just keeping her vocal cords hydrated. Anyway, she would probably do best in a home with a yard, rather than in an apartment setting. Neighbors may not appreciate her song stylings, and her new owner may not want to be accompanying her outside as frequently as she would prefer.
Bailee takes one Zyrtec-equivalent daily for her seasonal allergies, which cause skin itching and irritation. She appears healthy otherwise. She is a beagle, so she does shed her gorgeous fur. She rides well in the car and enjoys going for walks. She can pull strongly on a leash if she catches a whiff of something interesting. Her nose stays busy and she wants to "help" when things need to be retrieved from cabinets or the refrigerator. She's not especially demanding of attention and is content to hang out where it's comfortable. I have not kenneled her, but was told she is kennel trained. I don't know how she'd do with cats, but suspect she would be more interested in them than aggressive toward them. She has had a lot of changes in her life the past few months, and she may take a little extra time to adjust to another new situation, but she is a great dog. And those ears...they're like butter!
