Meet Bailey, Fudge, and Truffles! These thrre girls are estimated to have been born on July 15th.
They were brought into the shelter by animal control with their mother and their believed to be father, all picked up from the same address. Their mother appeared to be a purebred Australian Cattle Dog. (We have a photo of her but she was reclaimed by her owner from the shelter so did not come into rescue.) Their "believed to be" father came into rescue with them. He has been named Bonbon and he is an adorable mixed breed, super fun and friendly and weighs 33 pounds. He could have cattle dog or other herding breed in him, based on his looks and energy. But mostly he is just adorable.
Applications are not being accepted for a particular puppy at this time as we are still getting to know their personalities and temperaments. Puppies will be matched to approved applicants based on the best fit for each particular puppy and home.
These pups have had a rough start and came into rescue in extremely poor health, but they have proven themselves to be extremely resilient and have just received a clean bill of heath! They are happy and social together as a litter but a bit reserved when one-on-one. To ensure that you and your puppy will get off to the best possible start, we ask that you agree to take your puppy to a 'Puppy Kindergarten' class at an approved training facility as a condition of the adoption. We are happy to help you find a good place to take a class!
The puppies, being at least half cattle dog, are sure to have a good amount of energy and smarts - you'll need to have a lifestyle in place to accommodate an energetic, intelligent, playful puppy! If you are gone more than 4 hours at a time, you will need to have a plan in place for your puppy. Perhaps you have a friend, family member, or pet sitter who can come by for a mid-day play, meal, potty break for your pup, or maybe there is a local puppy daycare. Thinking of adding a pup to the family - please download and read these excellent books: http://www.dogstardaily.com/free-downloads
The puppies are up to date on age appropriate medical care, microchipped, started on flea/tick and heartworm preventative, and will be placed with a spay/neuter contract. They are being fostered in New York state, about 30 minutes south of Albany.
