Barney showed up on the fairgrounds adjacent to a high-kill shelter in WV. People take such chances when they toss these sweet dogs out beside a main highway! Don't they realize they could easily get in the road and get hit? But then the type of person who tosses a dog wouldn't care, would he? Anyhow, Barney got lucky and was taken into the shelter, where Castaway spotted him and brought him to PA. He is about 3 years old and weighs about 14 pounds.
He is a friendly little guy who likes treats and toys and attention. Barney gets along with other dogs and children. He is a real sweetie! This little guy deserves a loving family to keep him safe and to appreciate and enjoy him.
Barney would be best in a home with another dog around the same age and size, because he loves to play, and is in constant need of attention when his "human family" isn't around! A fenced-in yard is required, because Barney loves to run and play. Barney's foster home currently has cats, and though he wouldn't hurt them, he loves to chase and want to play with them. So, a home without cats would also be better.
Barney is such a little "love bug" that he even curls up and sleeps right next to his foster family every night. He loves getting picked up and gives kisses constantly!
His adoption donation includes neutering, vaccinations, implanting of a microchip, application of flea meds and worming.
Barney is in foster care so please complete an application at our website (www.castawaycritters.org) before meeting him. Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt; however, it is required. Applications are processed in the order received in an effort to find the best match possible for both the dog and the adopter.
