Basil is a wonderful loving Eskie. He loves petting, okay with brushing, and plays well with my Eskie, Bailey. He does not like cats, and I have been teaching him to walk on a leash. He does have food aggressions and does not want you near his treats or food. The only time he and Bailey got into a fight was when Bailey got near his bone, so I have to give them treats separately. He will growl and snap at me if he thinks I am taking his treats. I have been working with him on this and he is better than he was when he got here. Like most Eskies, he is very protective of his world. He barks at the door, and howls when the phone rings. He will mark his territory and he will chew on pillows and covers if he does not have something else to distract him. I have not locked him in his kennel when I go to work and he has done just fine in the house. I do have a doggy door and he has learned to use it to come and go in the backyard with no problem. Basil is a wonderful boy who would love a family to play with and give his attention to. For a 9 year old, he has the spunk and playfulness of a 5 year old. He loves with his heart, and will sit beside you contently for time on end. Basil will need a fenced in yard because he has shown a tendency to chase after cars when walking when they come near him.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
