Dachshund Rescue of Northern California (DRNC) is a network of independent volunteers who work together with the primary mission to rescue and foster abandoned, abused, and unwanted dachshunds. We are a smaller, foster based rescue, meaning we care for our dogs in our homes and our foster's homes. It gives us more one on one time with the dogs that need it the most.
Meet Bean, a 5 yr old, 13 lb dapple Chiweenie, located in the Reno, NV area. Bean was initially adopted from the Reno Humane Society, but is more than his family bargained for. He is a sweet boy, but DOES NOT LIKE MEN OR SMALL CHILDREN. We feel he was probably abused by a man or boy at some point, which is causing his aggression. Bean will only be adopted out to an experienced dog person, who can give him the time and training he needs to work through his issues with men. The owner is trying to rehome him before her husband takes him to the pound. With his aggressive tendencies, that would certainly be a death sentence.
Adoption fee $150
If you are interested in adopting Bean, please go to our website at www.drnc.org and complete the Adoption Application.
The following is a breakdown of our Adoption Process:
Complete our online Adoption Application. The questions on this form were designed to determine which of our rescue dachshunds would best suit your needs, lifestyle and experience. Please complete the entire form and email or mail it to us. After we review your application, we’ll contact you. Schedule a home check, a time when one of our representatives can visit your home and meet you, the other residents of your home and any other pets that might live with you. Sign a binding contract that outlines what DRNC requires of its adoptive parents. WE REQUIRE AN ADOPTION FEE that ranges from $100 to $350 per dog adopted. The fees vary according to the age, health and needs of each dachshund. They help cover the cost of any medical expenses, boarding, feed, etc. incurred by the dog. Many times the adoption fee does not cover the cost of the dog, but may be covered by the fee of another.
