Breed: Alaskan Malamute / Siberian Husky X
Hi, I am Bella and some of you may recognize me as the 10 week old puppy that had surgery to re-attach my femur. Fast forward and I am now a year old. On July 11, 2016, I underwent a second surgery on my leg and I now have a steel plate and 7 screws to hold my knee in place. I am currently in phase 3 of my rehabilitation which is going well. I am currently walked on a leash 2 times per day for about 45 minutes to an hour and after my leg is warmed up, I am able to spend up to 20 minutes free in the enclosed backyard and need to be the only dog. I need supervision and my time must be monitored as I do not know when to stop. I have not completed my rehabilitation yet and per my surgeon, if my leg were to be re-injured, there is nothing more that can be done to save the leg. My outlook for recovery is very good if my rehabilitation continues and my activities are monitored.
It is recommended I not be placed in a home with smaller dogs as I am a rough and rowdy player and could accidentally injure a small dog. I can be placed with a medium to large dog, however, it will require supervision and separation when not supervised. I currently live with a cat but this cat is willing to play with me like a dog so I am not so sure any other cat will tolerate my rough play.
I am very affectionate, love attention and cuddling. I choose my own toys from the toy basket and proudly carry my chosen toy around the house. I am also on the stubborn side so it would be nice if my new owner had experience with my breed combination of Alaskan Malamute/Siberian Husky X.
