You will not meet a sweeter dog than Billy Winston!! He is a young black lab that loves to play fetch and snuggle. He is good with everyone- dogs, children, the elderly (cats unknown). Billy was abandoned in South Dallas and was living on the streets for at least 3 weeks before we caught him. He would visit the neighborhood school during recess time to interact with the children through the fence and would spent the rest of the day scrounging for food or keeping cool in a creek. He has been living with his foster’s elderly father, who has cancer, and is very frail. Billy immediately became a therapy dog to him. He is very calm and gentle with him, sleeps next to him in the bed and keeps him company.
Billy has even encouraged my father to take him on short walks down the street and Billy is incredibly gentle and does not pull on the leash. Because my father has become bedridden most the day, Billy has started getting bored and jumping the fence for some excitement. He never travels far but we fear he may get hit by a car one day. Billy Winston is such a great, intelligent dog and we feel that he deserves a family with children and other dogs to play with. I really can't stress enough his intelligence.
If you feel your home might be the right place for such a great dog - the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt. Once submitted, the foster will contact you promptly to tell you more and to arrange a time to meet!
The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter.
Billy W. is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by DFWRM.
