Beautiful BlueBelle is a unique lady looking for a very special family. She was born into puppy mill conditions and lived almost four years birthing puppies in a deprived environment. She is around 5 years old and a small 12 lbs. BlueBelle was classified as semiferal and overcame many challenges to learn to live in a home and have minimal interactions with humans. She is still learning and needs a family who understands how best to gently, patiently help her adapt. BlueBelle has lived peacefully with a cat and lives with family dogs and a changing roster of foster dogs. She can be adamant about keeping her space to herself around other dogs and can also snuggle or act playful with those same dogs when she's in the mood. She will need at least one dog companion to help her feel at home and show her the doggie routine. She is house trained in her current environment. She would appreciate an adult-only home that tends to be calm and can let her safely grow at her own pace. To give you an idea of her pace, it took 18 months for BlueBelle to ask to be petted. She still has many fears and a phobia of thunder. She does not yet walk on leash. Her exercise currently consists of walking a large yard, jumping and racing around the house in anticipation of a meal, and some rehab exercises. BlueBelle is finishing rehabilitation for a healed back issue and for luxating patellae ("dislocating knees," common in small dogs). If you are looking for a sweet dog to love and nurture while carefully helping to widen her world, BlueBelle is your girl.
