Bo is a lover who is happy to play and/or snuggle. He is a shepherd mix. He has a weak hind leg that he is working on strengthening (though likely will always be weaker than the other) That doesn’t stop him, though, he loves to play and run around (occasionally on 3 legs if it speeds him up. He is a fast learner who needs continued coaching to improve his manners. He is generally well behaved, though he will occasionally relocate your shoes around the house (he doesn't typically chew them). Due to his back, left leg’s weakness, he would highly benefit from daily walks, which can be short distances, to continue strengthening it. Playing with other dogs has also been helpful in building strength.
Bo is friendly and loves to meet new people and dogs. He has been great with the dogs he has met, which range in sizes, and also does well around younger children. He loves to cuddle with anyone he can and at a minimum, he will keep your toes warm. On walks, he is very alert when he sees bunnies and squirrels, and will chase after them, so he would benefit from having a fenced in yard to keep him safe. He hasn’t met any cats yet, so it is unknown if he is good with them.
Bo is not food aggressive, but is very food focused. If you try to move his bowl, he will eat at a faster pace, moving with the food. He gets very excited when he knows it is time to eat. He will snack on carrots if they are left out for him (keeps him away from the shoes). He is not possessive of toys and likes to play tug with other dogs. He is potty trained, but had a few accidents in the first few days at his foster home. He does not like kennels/crates, and will continue to bark and whine until he is let out. He has not needed a kennel, because he sleeps through the night, without causing trouble. He is still learning how to walk on a leash politely and is currently walking with a harness that tightens in the front.
His ideal family would be with a semi-active family, where he could be given a lot of attention. He would do well with another dog(s), though would be good as an only dog. Bo would love further obedience training and might even make a good therapy dog!
