Poor, sweet Bob has had a very rough go in his life! This regal looking fella was found living in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant near a very busy intersection in town. His tail had been cut off by what we can only assume was a run-in with a car or another animal and it was severely infected. He was scrounging for food in the dumpster and begging for help from people who passed by. Sadly, everyone seemed to ignore him until one day, one of our amazing volunteers just happened to be at the right place at the right time. She immediately scooped him up and took him to the vet to be examined and treated for his injuries. In addition to his tail injury, the vet also noticed that he has a bone chip in his chin; probably the result of being kicked or hit by something. Fortunately, it does not bother him and surgery was not needed to remove it. Bob received medication for his infected tail and treatment for parasites. His tail has healed nicely but he now has a bobbed tail, hence his name. He was already neutered so he had a family at some point, but we will never know the events that led to him being homeless. Honestly, we shudder to think of what happened to him while he was living outside as a stray. The good news is that he is now safe, healthy, getting lots of love and TLC and ready for his forever home.

Bob is a sweet and gentle soul, but he is quite shy and will need a quieter home and a family who will give him the time he needs to settle in and feel comfortable. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body but after going what he went through living on the streets, he is understandly cautious and timid in new surroundings. He has plenty of hiding spots at my house where he can retreat to when things get a little too chaotic for his liking, and that's okay with me; kitties need safety zones to help them acclimate to a new home and feel comfortable in their surroundings. Bob is a BIG boy and weighs close to 16 lbs. He has the most beautiful and mesmerizing green eyes and is so handsome. He LOVES canned food, so I use it as a tool to build trust with him (it has worked quite well). He enjoys petting and scratches and when he's happy, he will let you know with a low, deep purr. He's not big on being held, but he may lay in your lap or next to you once he gets to know you. Bob enjoys the company of other kitties and having a friendly cat friend (or two) will help him feel more comfortable in a home. He did seem to be intimidated of dogs when he was around them briefly, but with time and a slow introduction, he may adjust an easy-going, cat-friendly pooch. Older or no kids are preferred as young children will frighten him.

Bob is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations and tested negative for FeLV/FIV. His DOB is 6/20/11, tag # 9935. Bob has a special adoption fee of $80 and even though he's on the shy side, he's worth the wait and will repay you with lots of kitty purrs and unconditional love so please give him a chance.
