Bonnie is a 5- 8 year old beagle, about 20lbs who was rescued from a backyard breeder type situation and probably led a very limited life in a cage or pen, possibly just kept for the puppies she could produce. Her and her possible partner "Clyde" ended up in a pound together.
They are both so sweet they could break your heart, imagining the years they suffered in a neglectful situation. They are undersocialized, and not suprisingly not too sure about humans. (At first). They are doing really, really well in foster care. They are togeher in a multi-beagle household and doing great. The fosters leave them out -not crated during the day while they are at work and they are not having accidents and not destructive. They are getting more and more comfortable, even jumping on the couch now.
You would need to understand though they will always have remants of their past with them which may cause they to duck and cover or revert back to timid when they are in new, scary or unsure situations or transitions. They do let down as they gain trust, get comfortable and are cared for , but they will also be a little more timid than your average dog.
They are great with other dogs! It would be fabulous for them to get adopted into a home with a confident dog actually to help them to continue to learn how to be a "normal" happy dog.
(it's not 100% necessary, would just be nice). We do want them to get adopted together as a pair, since life has been hard enough for them and they bring a great comfort to each other.
