Look up "Gentle Giant" and you will see Boo's photo because this big guy is the definition of the term. We can't believe how gentle, sweet, easy-going, and loving this guy is. He trusts everyone he meets and will give kisses to perfect strangers. He may look "scary" to some people but at Family Dog we know you can't judge a book by its cover. That's why when we heard about Boo we knew we had to give him a second chance.
You see, Boo and his best friend Sky were surrendered to a high kill shelter after their owners divorced and decided they didn't want to keep them. Because of his large size and intimidating looks Boo was going to be euthanized because they thought he stood no chance of being adopted. The shelter volunteers pleaded for us to take Boo and Sky and we just couldn't say no.
Since arriving at our shelter Boo and Sky have been a joy. They are mellow, well-behaved, don't jump up on people. They do well with men and even our teenage volunteers. They appear to be house-broken but their previous owners didn't teach them any commands. We think they spent most of their lives as backyard dogs because they are soaking up all the attention and really loving it here.
Boo is some sort of giant pit bull mix- maybe mixed with Mastiff, Great Dane, or Lab. He is 7 years old and weighs in at over 120 pounds. He needs to lose about 20 pounds to be at his ideal weight, so he will need a restricted diet in his new home. Boo is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. Due to his age his adoption fee has been decreased to $200!
While Boo and Sky are best friends they can be adopted into separate homes. If you are interested in adopting them both together please email us for the special discounted adoption rate.
