From the Foster:
Looking for a high energy dog that will keep you laughing? Give Boomer a try! Boomer likes to play with everything! He even runs around the yard with a bucket in his mouth, and often it's full of water that he dumps on himself. He has also been known to run around with a rake! His foster's favorite thing about him is his silliness – he is always cracking her up somehow. He knows how to open any door with a French door handle. There is not a serious bone in his body. He always wants to play!
When he first came to rescue, his manners were a little rough, but he has come so far! He knows sit and down and kennel. He has calmed down a lot since his diamond in the rough days. He sleeps well on his doggy bed next to our bed but would love to sleep with the humans if only they would let him. When he first moved in with hi foster family, he wouldn't even look at them. He didn't want anything to do with people. Now he loves to be by people and get affection. He likes to lay by them when they are watching TV and even if he's on the floor he likes to put a paw on any nearby foot. He is also crate trained and house trained.
Boomer, like most cattle dogs, has lots of energy. He would be great as a running companion! A sizeable, fenced yard is important as he loves to run, and a tired dog is a good dog! This lovable goof ball has calmed down a lot but will probably always has a lot of energy that needs to be worn off. He would be a great candidate for agility training and other “task” oriented activities, as he is too smart to be a couch potato for long!
He loves his doggy siblings, but slow intros are best with new dogs because his over excitement tends to be a bit much for new dogs. He may be too interested in cats: he scares his foster cat sibling with his excitement, but he hasn't tried to hurt her. Boomer is good with kids!
Boomer is eagerly waiting a forever family that wants to play and laugh and love – would he fit in yours?
I was recently treated for heartworms, and I am feeling much better now! Please let SHH know if you have any questions!
