Boston

Pit Bull Terrier

Large  |  Male

Houston, TX

Boston is being fostered in HOUSTON, TX. He is available for out-of-state adoptions.
Hi! I’m Boston and I’m 75 pounds of love. My favorite thing in the whole wide world is belly rubs! My foster mom says that I think everyone I meet should rub my belly, but I know they really really want to. I share my belly with everyone…it’s my way of spreading the love.
Besides belly rubs and cuddles I also spend my time being a very good boy. I already know basic commands like sit and down and I am getting pretty good at walking on me leash. I'm currently in a board and train program to make sure that I maintain those skills. I am a people pleaser, so I am pretty easy to train. I just want to be with you all the time.
I love all people, the big ones and the small ones…they are all great. I also love to play with other dogs. We have lots of good times together. The only thing I am missing is my very own home. Do you think you’d like to share yours with me? I’d love to meet you! Please contact info@redcollar.org for more information on meeting me.

Please note that this dog is being fostered in HOUSTON, TX. The Houston area adoption fee is $200. Out of state adoption is available. About half of our adoptions are to out-of-area adopters. The out-of-state adoption fee is $550 ($600 Canadian), which includes air transport, traveling crate, and health certificate. RCR takes care of all of the flight arrangements. Because of the distance, it is not possible for you to meet the dog, in person, unless you come to Houston. We can often send videos and/or do FaceTime interviews to allow you to “meet” the dog.

Why should you consider adopting a dog from Houston?
Houston is the #2 kill city in the U.S. City and County shelters often take in a combined 200-300 animals per day. The number of homeless pets and resulting euthanasias are staggering -- the average "live release rate" from Houston area shelters is only about 35-50%. Houston is estimated to have over 1 million homeless animals. Over 100,000 are killed in Harris Co shelters every year. Red Collar Rescue volunteers work tirelessly to save as many as we can, but the Houston area is saturated with so many pets in need of a home and not enough adopters. To put it simply, we encourage out of state adoptions because it helps us save more lives. We hope that you will consider one of our many adoptable pets who are waiting for a second chance at a forever home - wherever it may be!
