Large and lovely teddy bear in dog clothing looking for a family to call his own!!!
DiNozzo is every bit as cuddly as a teddy bear. He is as sweet as one also! With his floppy ears and his lolling tongue, you can't help but smile and laugh when you see him. This boy has so much love and fun to share, we know it won't be long before he finds his forever home.
DiNozzo was found in the middle of the road, pancaked to the ground terrified of the passing cars. A good Samaritan stopped and scooped him up and the rest, as they say, is history!! Bear has never met a stranger. He greets everyone with a wagging tail and a happy expression. That said, it's clear that the lad hasn't gotten out much in his short life. New experiences are a little overwhelming for him but once he knows something won't hurt him he is good to go.
DiNozzo has settled into life as a house dog perfectly. He has never had an accident and he is very tolerant of his crate. He would like to get up on your bed or couch and make himself comfortable but accepts gentle correction when his large, fluffy presence isn't wanted. He does need his crate though - having full roam of a house is a little too tempting for this young boy. There are just sooooo many things that can go in his mouth: books, shoes (his favorite), pillows, anything else laying within his reach!! In addition, he is very much a canine toddler in that he can get himself overly worked up when tired and won't take a nap unless he is popped in his crate. No doubt life is so wonderful now that he doesn't want to miss out on anything!!
DiNozzo has had a little bit of exposure to other dogs and is wary of them to begin with. We are giving him lots of "good experiences" with other canines and, in time, we are sure he will learn to love the company of "his people". Until then, we need to take things slowly with him. Lots of good experiences with other dogs will help him learn that dogs can be a lot of fun. Honestly, with his energy and playfulness, a canine buddy would be wonderful - but it has to be the right personality. Bear still needs to learn when enough is enough - so a dog buddy who can play with him and yet still teach him boundaries would be excellent.
Although DiNozzo has not been introduced to kitty-cats, his interest in squirrels makes us think that cats wouldn't be a good idea. Similarly., because of his rambunctious. puppy-like behavior, we are suggesting no small children for Bear. He loves to jump up and mouth - perfectly normal puppy behavior - which could easily scare youngsters.
So what is the perfect home for DiNozzo? Well, first and foremost you have to have a sense of humor. Full-grown puppies like DiNozzo can be a little exasperating if you can't find humor in their antics. Next you have to have energy - lots of energy. Right now DiNozzo walks about 5 miles a day and still has energy to spare!!! He is not the kind of dog you can throw catch with for 30 minutes and then expect him to settle. No, no, no!! This boy is bursting with energy and loves nothing more than to go for a brisk 3 mile walk or a longer run! Finally, you need to be a good pack leader. Bear's looks and personality tend to make even the most experienced dog person melt and laugh at his behavior - both good and bad. But honestly, in order to become the best canine citizen he can be, Bear needs a fair but firm leader. Someone that will let him be a puppy, but will reign him in when needed.
So, what do you think? Are you looking for a larger-than-life teddy bear? Do you need a furry walking or running coach? Can you keep all your books and collectibles on high shelves for a couple of years? If the answer to all these questions is YES, then hurry up and fill out an application for DiNozzo. I promise you a life time of fun and hilarity if you are lucky enough to adopt this boy!!
