Quiet Caine. I am going to tell you Caine's story.
He and his sister were at the Solano shelter, awaiting euthanization because they were very undersocialized, nippy and fearful.
Looking at rescue only needed for he and his sister Lucky (yeah she is Lucky now) was heartbreaking. The pair lived with a couple who are deaf, we assume it was a quiet calm home. I don't know why they were surrendered but I think they lost their home. Lucky and Caine had no interest by other rescues so Whiskers, Tails and Ferals found a wonderful and quiet foster home willing to take on two dogs that may need some real time and effort to be considered adoptable....
So now it has been about 4 months. Sister Lucky did get Lucky and was adopted a couple weeks ago. While we would have let them go together to a home it was advised they not so each dog could bond to the new family rather than rely on each other for comfort.
Caine is blossoming especially with his fosterdad.
We would like if possible for Caine to go to a home where there is no young children or at least children under 15. With some testing over the last weeks we found Caine NEEDS and WILL bond to a person, Male or female with a bit of space and patience. He needs a mommy or a daddy or both. A quiet home where he can continue to blossom into the dog he wants to be.
Caine will have a mandatory sleepover of two weeks with any new approved adoptive home. He will only go to a home that understands his need for gaining trust.
IF you could see his before photos and his before level of fear you would be amazed. IF you feel you are the right home for Caine please contact us to get the ball rolling!
He is much more than just a pretty face.
Caine is a sweet boy that loves any attention he can get. Walks well on a leash, loves going for car rides and is just a great little dog! Takes awhile for him to drop his guard with new people (a bit of a snarky, cranky old man in that regard, but that might just be a schnauzer thing). But once he finds his person, it will all be well because he's a happy, bouncy, lovable guy!
Approx 7-8 years old.
