Carly was rescued from death row in an overcrowded California shelter.
Carly is quiet, affectionate, calm, happy, and is just great all-around. She is a lap dog that is medium-low energy. Even the people in the high-kill California shelter loved her and did their best to keep her from being euthanized.
She would make a great dog for a retired person, or she could be a great 'first dog' for an inexperienced family. She likes other dogs and will likely be good with kids. She is good with cats. She is mostly calm with people, but definitely has a goofy side once she gets comfortable. She walks fairly well on leash-- she pauses to sniff a lot, but she responds well to a quick pull. She has so little bodyweight she could never knock anyone over while walking with them. She needs help being fully potty-trained (she has spent so much time in shelters we think she gets confused as to where she is supposed to go). She can get posessive of her human, but this problem is easily fixed with training. Even someone new to dog training can fix this issue, and our trainer will help.
She's about 3 years old, healthy, spayed, & up-to-date on vaccinations. She has a small growth on her eye that we believe is harmless and can be removed if desired.
Everyone that meets her is amazed at how loving and calm she is. She is great, all the volunteers love her.
