Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Charcoal is a 7 month old Poodle who was rescued from Korea's meat markets. He has a non-shedding coat that is an option for those who have allergies or simply want a dog who doesn't shed. He weighs 7.4lbs. He is all puppy. Forget his age. He looks like a puppy, acts like a puppy and by all accounts is a puppy! His foster home reports that he is neither lazy or hyper. He is more of a moderate energy level. He has spurts. He is mischievous. He will sneak food from the kitchen and dive bomb under the couch or bed to protect his precious treasure. He is known to steal a toy or clothing at times as well.
Charcoal is learning to appreciate his crate at night. His first few nights he would wake and cry for mom. But now he has slept through the entire night and he's getting accustomed to it. The couch, the car, stairs were also a new experience for him. But this little ball of fun tackled them, albeit a little clumsily, with the full vigor of a puppy. His foster family has gotten to experience the wonder and joy of introducing him to all new things and so will his new family. Charcoal loves to chase balls. Life is proving to be an agility course for our little guy and he's enjoying every moment.
Charcoal is proving to be wicked smart. He is learning basic commands, learning to go out in public and may soon be a dog fit for the office. Charcoal is an option to join a home that has another dog or is looking for a dog friendly dog. He isn't bothered by the yappy dogs who live next door. He lived with other dogs in Korea.
Charcoal is an option to go to a home with children over the age of 7. We will be looking for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
