Charley is 12-year-old, 20-pound Chow/Pomeranian mix. This sweet senior was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter in Southern California by his guardian, and a good samaritan chose to rescue him and sponsor his care when she saw a video of him terrified and confused in his kennel. We're so glad she did - Charley is a delightful little guy and will make some lucky person a fun companion.
When you're out and about with Charley, be ready for some attention. His big smile, unique looks and sassy trot draw a crowd. His foster mom says people who pass him on walks often get big smiles on their faces, and many ask what kind of dog he is. Especially when he has his "lion" haircut. He loves the attention, which may be why he enjoys going on two long walks each day and is so well-behaved on them.
Charley is friendly and gentle with everyone - other dogs and people of all ages. Charley has interacted with some kitties and done well, so it's possible he'd be fine with a dog-savvy cat in his future family. His hearing isn't great, so it's a good idea he knows what's coming so he doesn't get startled. He rides really well in the car, behaves while getting baths, is house-trained and sleeps quietly through the night on his bed near his person. And he has an adorable underbite that you're sure to love. In other words, he's the total package.
Charley does have signs of early kidney disease, but is doing well at this time. This will just need monitoring as he gets older.
Charley is such a good, kind, well-behaved boy, we think he must have been well-loved in the first chapter of his life. We're hoping his next chapter includes the same.
