Hi, I’m Cherno.
I am staying with a family called “the Fosters” but I really want my “furever” family to find me. Someone wanting a trainable, playful, and sweet dog should adopt me.
I am still working on “my look” and can’t decide if I like my ears up or down, so sometimes I go around with one up and one down. I like my crate, and I go in there voluntarily to nap during the day. I used to sleep in there at night, but now I sleep on a blanket beside the bed. I am a sucker for ear rubs and belly scratches. Oh yeah, and I love rawhide bones and popcorn.
Each of the Fosters loves me. The kids think I am funny because I am playful. I am not nervous or shy at all and show my joy when they come home from school. The dogs like to boisterously play with me, and although I love my dinner and treats, I am not food aggressive. Mr. Foster called me “a good dog right out of the box.” He’s proud to take me on a walk or run because I am a manly dog and he would be embarrassed by a poodle! Mrs. Foster told me that I am very smart and easily trained. She takes me outside on a schedule and reminds me to go potty outside. I started learning to sit on command and figured out the doggie door on my first day here. But Mrs. Foster mainly loves me because I am sweet and just melt when we cuddle.
Sadly, I came to K-9 Angels with awful wounds that might have been the result of acid burns. It’s hard to believe that someone would hurt me, but you wouldn’t know from my sweet disposition that I had such a rough start. I healed up quickly after the vet shaved most of my back and head; cleaned me up; sent me off with some medicine; and made me wear a goofy blue cone. Now that my fur has grown back, I am a seriously handsome dude.
Cherno is a Male Lab/Golden Retriever Mix that we estimate to be born around May 1, 2016.
PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered.
OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered.
SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one’s pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready.
NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian.
