Chewy was found on the streets by one of our friends. She patiently tried catching him for many days until finally, success! Chewy was all skin and bones, hungry and showed signs of having been in some scuffles. He was also found to be heartworm positive. ART took him in and over the next few months, first worked on putting some weight on him. He is now at a healthy weight of almost 30lbs, neutered, microchipped and upto date on all his shots. The only thing pending is heartworm treatment which will start the first week of October. He is friendly and loves his people and furry siblings alike. While he is generally gentle, he does like to use his paws to get attention and so we think homes with children 10 and over will be better. He is crate-trained but we are still working on obedience. He knows when he is told to stop doing something that he is, but still hasn't figured out how to learn and so we are still working on basic commands. He is friendly around new people and learning to trust. At first, while he liked to be pet, he was suspicious if you got your face close to him for kisses. He has since learned that it is awesome to be loved on and cuddle and allows you to give him kisses as long as its not a sudden move. He loves to play and run in the yard, but just as happy being a couch potato. He loves going on walks and is just a happy sweet boy. The little guy seems to have been through a bit of a rough time on the streets, and we are glad he is much healthier and happier now. All he needs now is a loving new family that will love him, care for him and spoil him rotten!
