Chi Mix, Female, 2 years, 11 lbs
Dog Name: Chiquita
Suspected Breed(s): Chihuahua Mix
Age: 2 years
Weight: 11 lbs.
Personality: Friendly, Playful, Average energy, Quiet, Gentle, Easygoing, Calm, Shy
Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs. Chiquita lived temporarily with a senior Yorkie. Chiquita was curious and wanted to play, but the other dog was not interested. Chiquita is excited and eager to play with other small dogs during walks. She seems intimidated by larger dogs. Chiquita also likes taking food from other dogs when no one is looking.
Observations with Cats: Unknown
Observations with Kids: Good with kids in calm settings. Chiquita is usually afraid of loud kids or groups of kids and will tried to avoid them. She will sit calmly for pets with some reassurance in quieter situations.
House Training Progress: In progress. Chiquita sometimes goes in the house right after eating even when she went for a walk immediately before.
Crate Training Progress: Chiquita is loose in the house during the day and sleeps on her foster’s bed at night. She will go into her crate on her own during the day, but does not like to be locked inside.
Location: DC area foster
Rescued From: Pickens County, SC
Additional Information: Chiquita is a darling little girl who will greet you with a wiggly butt and tail wags! She’ll gladly roll over for a belly rub session anytime her person is near. She is very beautiful, with unique coloring, but is pretty independent and low maintenance. Chiquita likes to be near her person, but is not a lap dog. Her favorite place is her bed, where she can retreat for some quiet time. She could use some confidence building in her new home. If you are looking for a gentle, quiet lady, apply today to meet Chiquita!
If you are interested in meeting a dog, we require an adoption application. Visit http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt.html to apply. If a dog has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon.
If a dog has "NEEDS FOSTER" listed, they are still available for adoption. Information about our current dogs in need of fosters can be found here: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/current-dogs-in-need-of-a-foster.html and the application to foster is here: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster.html.
City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).
Prior to arrival, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, Distemper DHPP, and Bordatella. They are tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet. Most dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken or crate trained. Our adoption fee is $395 (including puppies) unless noted -- senior dogs are available for an adoption fee of $200.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new dogs.
