// All dogs are altered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested/started on prevention prior to being adopted.

Claire is a little Chihuahua that was picked up as a stray and ended up at a pound in April of 2015. Scared and not trusting, the volunteers there worked with her everyday to help her overcome those fears. Claire is still a little iffy when it comes to new people she meets but learns to trust.
She apparently had an injury to her eye before being picked up by the dog warden. We applied an ointment 3 times a day and her little scratch has healed but she has the start of a cataract.
Claire loves meeting people so taking her with you shopping, etc would make her happy. Just don't leave her in the car by herself. She is tiny so we don't recommend her for a family that has young children not used to being around little ones. Families with children that are older would be best for Claire.
Claire's idea home would be with someone that does not have other dogs so that she can be the center of attention. She loves being with her people and cuddling on the couch with them. She lives in her foster home with other dogs and will grump and groan at times but they just ignore her. Although she walks well on a leash she does perfer fenced area to potty in so that she can walk around freely. She is NOT to be trusted out of her area or off her leash. Remember she was a stray so wandered off from someone. A simple exercise pen for pets or toddlers will be perfect for her. NO tie outs.
Her back legs are a little wobbly at times but she can run just as fast as any of the other dogs in her foster family.
