Colleen and her six puppies were found in rural Alabama and taken to a shelter...and a shelter was no place for this little family to be. They are now with their foster mom, Corinne and are doing well. The vet said the babies are healthy and approximately six weeks old, but mom is heartworm positive.
Colleen's is all ready to find a foster home who will be patient with her insecurities in new situations. Life has not been kind to her and she needs some serious love, attention and patience. Colleen is also heartworm positive and will need a quiet home to help her get through treatment.
UPDATE: Colleen is settling in at her foster home. She is learning to trust people and even liking her foster fursibling Charley a little more and more each day.
THE LATEST: Colleen is finished with heartworm treatment and is doing OK. She didn't feel the greatest and the required quiet time during treatment made her a little cranky. Colleen is ready to move to a longer term foster or adoptive home. She will require very understanding foster or adoptive parents who will help her with her trust issues and will continue her very intensive training. Colleen will do best in a home with no cats, no small dogs or any other small animals. She loves her foster furbrother Charley :)
