Kitty

Tuxedo

Small  |  Female

Los Angeles, CA

DOB: 9/27/11
Kitty is a confident, curious, intelligent and very well behaved girl. She’s a delightful companion to live with as she’s alert and aware, has a sweet disposition, she wants to know the ‘goings on’ in the house, and doesn’t make any demands upon the people or other cats in the house. Her overall health is excellent.
From the moment she entered the home of her foster mom, Kitty was respectful of the house and furniture; she does her business in the cat box only, and she doesn’t scratch the furniture. She was respectful of the 3 resident cats in the house; Kitty allowed them their space, wa not confrontational, and asserted herself gently in the household…she just knows how to behave! She now lives at the Kitten Rescue Sanctuary in a cage-free area with 30-35 other adult cats.
Kitty likes a moderate amount of petting and holding; she loves being scratched on her cheeks/whisker area – but once she’s had enough she’ll start thumping her tail and that’s your cue! She’ll often roll onto her back in the throes of petting pleasure, seemingly asking for a belly rub, which she appreciates, briefly. Too much and she’ll let ‘ya know! Kitty just needs to feel that you respect her needs and she’ll respect yours.
Kitty is fixed, tested negative for leukemia, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She did test a very, very faint positive for FIV using one brand of test (IDEXX), and negative using another brand (Witness), which means we can't say with 100% certainty that she is FIV-negative, but the results could been from an FIV vaccine, from something in her blood that reacts with the reagents in the one brand of test but not the other, or from being infected with FIV but with the virus at such a low level that it barely registers on one test and not at all on the other. Unfortunately, there's no good way to confirm either way what her FIV status is, so we have to call it indeterminate. This does not make her a threat to other cats nor does it represent a substantial short- or long-term health risk, but it's something to be aware of.
