Sweet, little Cullen is a whole lot of personality (and strength) in one tiny body! Cullen arrived at The Barking Lot in July, 2015 with a small group of dogs from Moreno Valley. Initially, we were told that Cullen was just a shy, scared dog. However, when our transporters picked him up and brought him to us, we realized that Cullen had a curved spine, was not able to walk well, and had cuts and abrasions all over his legs. Cullen went right into a foster home and has made several trips to the vet since he first came to us. From x-rays, it appears that Cullen has some malformed vertebrae in his spine. However, it doesn’t seem to stop him from doing anything and he is not in pain. The most noticeable affect is that Cullen walks a little funny, and his spine is slightly curved. Cullen has drastically improved in his foster home – he has become much stronger and is able to walk on his own (and has an incredibly adorable little walk), plays with his three foster siblings all the time, and loves to chase his own reflection in mirrors. This Chihuahua/Min Pin mix is just over one-year-old and fully-grown at just over 7 pounds. Cullen has a short, black and tan coat that is easy to care for, adorable floppy ears, and big, round eyes that you can’t help but love. Cullen’s foster mom reports that Cullen is relatively scared of new people, but is a total ham for affection with people he knows and is one of the most playful pups you will ever meet. Cullen often throws his entire body into the toy basket in his foster home, and is happy to roll around in his toys while deciding which one to play with. He knows how to walk on a leash, is crate trained (if you pull a bag of treats out, he will run right to his crate), housetrained, and gets along with his cat siblings (although he does like to sneak attack them sometimes when he is in an especially playful mood). Cullen has obviously been through a lot in his short life – when he first got to his foster home, he was incredibly shy, scared, fearful, and not able to move well. After two months in foster, he trots around happily on his own all the time, loves his foster mom and the people he has come to know during his time in foster, and has proven himself to be a very happy guy with a puppy’s zest for life! If you’re looking for a tiny companion that can go anywhere and everywhere with you, and loves to both cuddle and play, then Cullen is the guy for you!
