This baby girl was an owner surrender - they said they found her on the side of the house... anemic and lethargic. Thankfully... they took her to the ER and surrendered the pup to the hospital because they couldn't afford her vet bill.
Hookworms are common in puppies... and untreated --results in lethargy, diarrhea and anemia. But the hospital gave her 2 blood transfusions and she is NOW fine as wine! She is about 6 weeks old - baby teeth and puppy breath. And as soon as we can arrange it, she will be spayed and chipped.
At first we were told she was a Boxer mix - but now that we've taken a closer look at her and now that that she is feeling better and more active, we BELIEVE she has some Great Dane in her.
She is in a foster home now and doing great - young, gangly and with a healthy appetite. She is SO sweet. Velvety ears and an underbite..
To get her into our care, we absorbed a $600+ vet bill...
Her adoption fee which will include 3 sets of puppy shots, her spay & microchip will be $400.

NOTE: Adoption fees are applied towards the vet bill: Exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.
