Declan is being fostered in Vermillion, SD
Update 6/26/2016 - Declan completed the final injection portion of his heart worm treatment. So, he is on the search for his home. The best home for Declan would be someone who can come home during the noon hour to relieve him from his crate (work week). A privacy fence, since he can climb a 6ft fence chin link fence, cat free home, another dog is a huge plus or children. Declan loves and adores his people. He is the epitome of the term "velcro dog". Declan was a major door darter but with months of training, he will do a wait sit when the door to outside is opened. This will most likely have to be reinforced/worked on to keep this command as a refresher for his safety. Big improved from when he first arrived.
Update 5/10/2016): Declan will go in for his first heart worm injection on May 17th. He will then wait 30 days to receive a back to back injection, which we hope medically clears him of being heart worm positive. If it's good news...he will be medically cleared to be adopted. This we know about Declan...he can climb a 6 ft chain link fence. He is being fostered in a privacy fence home and does not try to climb. He also will door dart...so, extra special care needs to be taken when opening doors without outside fencing. Foster family has taken a few hikes to retrieve this little stinker. Declan is house trained, loves to go for car rides and has loved every dog he has met. He is a typical boxer which adores children.
Declan is a 2 yr old, brindle male. Declan is heart worm positive. He was picked up as stray but his owner did step forward. After pondering on taking him back, they decided they didn't want to spend the money on his fine and decided they didn't have time for him. NPBR volunteers got into action quickly to make his day! Declan is on the smaller size and loves his people. We will update more on his personality as he spends time in his foster home.
My adoption donation is $350. Please see our website for the services our donation covers. Adoption donations rarely cover the expenses put out to make us kids healthy. Like all NPBR boxers under age 3, I will be adopted out with an obedience contract.
