Hi, my name is Dixie! I am about 1 year old, and people guess I am a mix of Italian Greyhound and Rat terrier. Are you a person who could be with me most of the day and looking for a young, small, fun-loving, active girl? I may be looking for you! I was found as a stray, lost and alone. The good person who found me looked and looked for my people, but couldn't find them. They asked Wonder Pets Rescue to search for the Perfect Home for me, so here I am! My foster mommy says I am a silly girl, sometimes, especially when I have my favorite squeaky toy. I get along pretty well with other dogs, although I take a couple of days to adjust to them. I learn new routines very well, especially if you talk nice to me and give me treats when I do the right thing (like sit nice instead of jump up). My foster mommy thinks I would do great in an obedience class with you, where we both get to learn together. I sleep nicely in my crate and walk very well on my leash (unless there is a rabbit to chase!). My foster mommy wants you to know that I can be difficult to house-train in a new environment, but that I have been such a good girl after the first couple of days, as long as I have regular breaks! I really like getting outside in a nice, fenced yard to do my business and sniff around and then run back to my foster people. I do have a fair amount of energy and LOVE spending time with my people, so I could really benefit from someone who will take me on regular walks, light jogs, or maybe even hiking! If you talk very nice to me, I would love to snuggle on the couch with you, afterward. My foster mommy thinks I had some scary things happen to me in the past and I get scared if you yell or reach for me too quickly. I won't be mean to you, but because of this, I do need to have a home with no small children living there all the time (13 years and older, please). I do okay with visits from little ones, and have even been known to let them take me for walks or hug me gently, but I do feel uncertain with them around, so I would need supervision to make sure they don't scare me or corner me. If you think you are the person for me, please send in an application to Wonder Pets and let them know all about you, so they can talk to you about me and make sure we would be a good fit! I can't wait to meet you! Dixie is spayed, microchipped, wormed, and vaccinated with routine and rabies vaccinations prior to adoption. Her adoption donation is $250. Please find our adoption application here, Dog/Puppy Adoption Application. Wonder Pets Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit organization and adoption donations are tax deductible. Find us on Facebook!
