This is Duchess and she is pure royalty. She is sweet, gentle and just wants someone to love her for the gentle soul that she is. She is an older girl, her teeth are a little worn, her eyes have a little discharge and she moves a little slower but she is a duchess in every way! Duchess has a severely fractured right hind leg...her tibia is broken in a couple places. We had a surgeon look at it and it is best to let it heal on its own at this time. She is not a 14'eer nor is she a mile long hiker but she a a wonderful gardener overseer, a slow walker to the mailbox down the driveway and a cozy lap comforter on these upcoming cold winter days. Duchess would love to find a quite home with a warm place to lay her head and lots of loving pets.
We have her heartworm treatment schedule set-up with her vet in Kittredge. She should be through the HW treatment protocol in about 90 days. She will be able to be adopted NOW as long as her forever family can continue to get her to her appointments (about 4 of them). EAPL will continue to cover all of her heartworm treatment costs. Please talk to one of our volunteers as this is non-contagious (it is carried by mosquitos) and very curable. Once she has completed her treatment she will be ready to live the full Colorado laid back lifestyle!
