Meet Duke! He doesn't go anywhere without his big sister, Missy. They are a package deal, and you're in luck because this duo couldn't be sweeter. Missy has a playful spirit, loves walks and hanging out outside. Duke may be a bit more of a curmudgeon who takes some time to warm up, but when he does, he is all about the cuddles and he won't be shy to grab the spot next to you on the chair or couch! These cutie-patooties have lived with big and small dogs, and do fine. Duke has some alpha tendencies with other males, so a submissive mate or a house with a small female would be a-ok. They've also lived with a cat – Missy ignores the cat, while Duke focuses on him a little too much at times. We recommend a no cat home or one that’s dog savvy and will welcome slow intros.
MORE ABOUT DUKE
(**See Missy's profile for more information about her)
Age: 8 yo/neutered
Weight: 23 lbs.
People-friendly: Duke takes a little longer to warm up than his sister, Missy. But he will settle in and then claim his spot next to you for cuddling. He greets all people with a friendly face and a happy waggle-waggle of his butt. Keep in mind, though, Duke doesn’t like his tail area touched due to an old grooming injury, so little kids would need to be respect of his boundaries.
Dog-friendly: Has some alpha tendencies with other males, big or small, so a home with smaller females or no other dogs would be great for Duke. As long as she has his sister around, he is one happy dude!
Cat-friendly: Duke really likes to sniff cats! We recommend a no cat home or one with a cat that’s dog savvy and will welcome slow intros.
Pottytrained: Yes. Has been trained to use pee pads in the past.
Kennel trained: Gets a bit anxious in one; better when left in a room to free roam.
Any specific medical issues: Duke had an eye mass removed upon intake, and is doing well!
Does he like or get any special treats? Smaller, chewier treats.
He likes: Cuddling!
He hates: I f you attempt to touch near his tail.
Favorite thing to do in the house: Cuddling and following his humans around.
How he shows a quirky side: Duke is a cuddler, but tends to be a bit protective of his area on your lap.
