Dunkin

Labrador Retriever

Medium  |  Male

Englewood, CO

Dunkin is available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. He came to CCR from a home in Denver. There is very little history on him prior to his first adoption as a young puppy. CCR has been told he’s a lab breed mix, but that is just a guess made by shelter staff, rescue volunteers, and our veterinarians. His former family turned him back to the Rescue because they were moving and couldn’t take him along. He lived with them for three years.
Dunkin is a wonderful, athletic young dog that loves to run and play with the dogs in his foster home. He has an excellent recall when running off-lead and stays with the pack on his daily walk/run in the prairie. You can see the joy in his face as he explores his world. He leaves the horses alone when he encounters them on a walk. He will play with all of the dogs, but he does best with ones that are near his 50-pound size since he plays enthusiastically.
Dunkin is reliably housetrained with a doggy door and has excellent house manners. He enjoys sleeping on the bed at night but will adjust readily to a dog bed if that’s what his new family prefers. He is such a loyal, loving young man! He asks for attention if he doesn’t think he’s getting enough pets, and will do anything you ask of him. Except bring the ball or fisbee back, but he’ll chase it for you.
Dunkin is nervous when new people come into the house and stands back and barks but will warm to them and accept pets if introduced appropriately. Dunkin also needs some leash training as he tends to pull. He’s a smart young man, so he should take easily to structured training. He has not been exposed to cats, so that is an unknown issue. He needs a home without children since all the running and loud noises would cause anxiety for him.
Dunkin’s dream home would be one with another dog with whom to run and play, a large yard, and an active owner who wants a buddy to run, hike, and play with. He’s definitely not an apartment dog but could possibly be a good hunting partner. He’s active and athletic and will need a good hour of running, hiking, or playing every day to keep him physically fit and happy.
If you are interested in adopting Dunkin, please submit an adoption application located on our website, www.coloradocaninerescue.org. We are asking for a $175 adoption donation for him. He is neutered, up to date on his shots, and comes with his own crate.
Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter.
