Hey There - My name is Elsie. I am a 2 year old spayed female. I came in with a large group of cats all living in one home. I have a respiratory virus that can be contagious to other cats so I am hoping to be adopted with another cat who lived with me prior (my mates are Maryann, Pigeon, Puppy and Dormouse - you can see their pictures online too!). If you don''t have a cat and have been trying to fill that empty void now is your chance!
I was fearful when I first came to the shelter, but am now more relaxed and enjoy lots of pets and scritches on my chin! I love to snooze and hang out with my cat pals as well.
*My adoption fee has been waived by a wonderful donor!*
Come and meet me today! You can learn more about my respiratory virus below.
Feline calicivirus (FCV) is a virus that can be contagious to other cats, but not to people or dogs. This group of cats was diagnosed with FCV infection, based on clinical signs which vary from cat to cat. Some cats have stomatitis/oral inflammation/oral ulcers while others have mild upper respiratory symptoms. We are treating the clinical signs as recommended for any cats with stomatitis by providing dental cleanings and extractions of teeth if necessary. We are treating any cats with Upper Respiratory Infection with a 10 day course of oral antibiotics.
It is possible, though unlikely, that these cats could transmit this strain of FCV to other in-contact cats, who could then develop signs of stomatitis or upper respiratory tract infection.
