Emily is a sweet and loving 5 year-old Beagle/Doxie mix female who was adopted from us four years ago along with her brother Eddie. They were recently returned to us because their family’s circumstances had changed and they were no longer able to care for them. Sadly, she came back to us very overweight. Emily weighs about 37 pounds but needs to get down to 20 pounds to be at her ideal weight. She is going to have to lose about 50% of her body weight to get back into shape. Emily is now on a strict diet and eating Natural Balance Fat Dogs dry food (a bag will go home with her upon adoption). She needs a new home where her family will commit to getting her back to a healthy weight with a combination of lots of walking and a low calorie diet. Emily is crate-trained and likely to be housetrained too. She walks nicely on a leash and is eager to lose the extra weight so she can start living her life to the fullest and have the energy to take part in lots of fun adventures. Emily can be particular about her dog friends so would probably be fine as the only dog in the home. She doesn’t seem to be especially attached to Eddie so they do not need to be adopted together. She loves her human friends and is very affectionate with them, doling out lots of kisses. Her adoption fee is $200. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested in Emily. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. All of our dogs come to us from county dog pounds so we have no history on them. We also have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at www.caninelifeline.org to see more photos of Emily and to submit an online application.
