Our lovable Flora is a Beagle mix girl with two different colored eyes. She is about six years old, weighs 40 pounds, and has a heart of gold.
Flora was adopted from a local animal shelter by her guardian (an elderly man) several years ago, and she lived a wonderful life with him as an indoor-only companion. But when her guardian got really sick and had to move into a convalescent home, Flora became an orphan all over again. She lived in an empty home for several weeks while the guardian's children came in once a day to give her food and water. She waited every day for her guardian to return.
The Fuzzy Pet Foundation learned of Flora's story through the guardian's son, and we rescued her right away. We had her fully examined by our vet, and Flora was given a clean bill of health. We promised Flora's guardian that we would take excellent care of Flora, and even move mountains to find her a nurturing, lifelong home.
Flora is such a sweetheart. She LOVES to go out on leash walks. She has a healthy appetite and has a good amount of energy to keep anyone active and busy. Flora is such a people-dog; she will greet just about anyone who walks through the door. She is ALWAYS wagging her tail and giving sweet kisses. She enjoys car rides.
Though Flora lived as the only pet in her former home, she loves other dogs and does great in dog park settings. She isn't very familiar with cats -- she will bark and try to chase them but has never attacked them.
