Dog's Name: FOXY
Estimated Breed : PLOTT HOUND MIX
Approximate Age: 1 YEAR
Approximate Weight: 45 POUNDS
Currently Living at: BOARDING
Adoption Fee: $300
Foxy is a very sweet girl who is lots of fun! She is currently in a foster home and her foster mom describes her as curious, exuberant and energetic. She loves to play fetch and tug, as well as just zooming around for the pure pleasure of running. At one year, she has the energy of a puppy, but should settle down in the next year. Foxy is almost house trained, goes willingly into a crate for a treat, and will stay there quietly if the house is quiet. She is currently learning sit, down, pay attention, waiting for treats politely, and keeping all four paws on the floor when she is excited. She is very motivated for food, toys. She is hard to handle on a leash right now.
She would do best in a home with active owners and another playful dog where they can entertain and exercise each other and run around the yard for hours. Foxy’s size, energy level, and puppy manners require experienced adult dog-owners, and no children or quiet/elderly dogs in the house. Foxy ignores the cat in her foster home. She is a very smart girl who will benefit greatly from proper obedience training.
Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.
Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (for dogs over 6 months old), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.
