Girl Dog is a public listing, not officially part of the CAAWS program. We are assisting her caretaker in re-homing her. Girl Dog is very active, and therefore best suited to a home with moderate to high energy. Please contact her caretaker directly by email atsarah.landry54@gmail.com for more information.
Message from her caretaker:
Girl Dog is FULL of energy, and loves life. She loves toys and other animals, and has been very good with children of all ages whom we've met while she's been with me, including a toddler, nephews and nieces. Since she's deaf, she has never heard anyone tell her "no," or heard raised voices, so she's very happy all the time. She responds well to hand signals, but is also good at pretending she doesn't see them them when it doesn't suit her. If left alone outside for extended periods of time, she WILL find a way out, and also has a habit of digging. If she's allowed inside for the majority of the time, however, she does love outside playtime.
She'd be great in a multi-dog family, as she'll always find an outlet for her pent-up energy if she doesn't get in enough playtime. She has never shown food aggression, but she likes to take toys away from other dogs. It's not possessively mean; she thinks she's playing. She doesn't growl, and rarely barks. She has a pretty bad flea allergy, but since she's been with me and on regular flea control, she hasn't had any issues.
Being deaf, you can catch her in some SUPER sweet sleeping positions, and she has the BEST sleepy face when you wake her up. She loves to snuggle, and has a lab's sense of personal space (i.e. NONE). When she's nervous or in a new place, she'll shove her head between your legs from behind and stay there to observe things. She's never met a stranger who wasn't immediately her best friend, and she's never shown any sign of nervous aggression. She's the perfect dog for someone or a family, and she's been looking for a long time.
