Hi there. I'm Gracie, a big, beautiful, classic black & white tuxedo girl. I’m in search of a home of my own where I will be loved, and I can shower my family with love in return.
My start in life was a very rocky one. My mama was poisoned by neighbors when my six siblings and I were just days old. We were exposed to the poison through her milk just before she died. Kitten Rescue was contacted and my foster mom rushed to pick us up to get us the emergency care urgently needed, if we were to have any chance of survival. Sadly five of my siblings were beyond the point of help, and they succumbed in a matter of hours. My foster mom worked tirelessly rendering medical care, and through the grace of God my sister and I survived, but not unscathed. Though we were out of the woods and began to thrive, the poison exposure left us both with a condition known as "cerebellar hypoplasia". While my sister’s resulting disability is quite severe, I was only mildly affected with slightly compromised coordination. I sometimes have a bit of a quiver and my walk has a slight ‘waddle’ to it. My jumps are occasionally a little clumsy, but it doesn’t stop me from doing the things I want to do. I can jump up on low things such as the couch or bed to lounge or for a nice cat nap, but not on higher things like tables or countertops. I use my litter box perfectly, and am very well behaved. I love to sit and relax with my ‘peeps’ and enjoy some serious cuddling and loving. While it’s true that I will never win any agility or speed contests, and I may not be as ‘graceful’ as some kitties are, I make up for it in so many ways. I have a huge loving heart and my spirit is indomitable.
I am healthy, and have no special needs or requirements. The one thing I do need is a home that will welcome me as a cherished member of the family. You see, I was adopted as a 10 wk. old kitten and then returned 5 yrs. later when the lady’s life underwent “major changes” and she decided that having pets “was just not for her anymore”. She returned me to my former foster mother, and gave her other two kitties away to friends.
So here I am back living with my foster mom while searching for my REAL forever home. In my foster home I have several other kitties of various ages and three dogs, all of whom I get along with wonderfully. I also adore my foster mom’s 4 yr. old granddaughter who loves to spend time petting, brushing, and cuddling me. I would be the perfect addition to a home seeking a gentle, easy going, low key, young adult kitty with lots of love to share.
