With a beautiful, wrinkly face just begging for kisses, meet Guinea! Guinea arrived at The Barking Lot in December, 2015 with small group of dogs from Mexico. A ranch received Guinea as a gift several months back, but could not keep her and gave her to a local rescuer, who then gave her to us in the hopes that we could find her the perfect forever home. At two-years-old, this American Staffordshire Terrier/Italian Mastiff (Cane Corso) mix is exactly the reason why the phrase “gentle giant” was created. Guinea is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog, with a lovely mellow temperament that would make her the perfect fit for any home. Right now, she’s about 90 pounds, but we are trying to help her lose a few pounds, as she came to us pretty overweight. Her ideal weight is probably closer to 75 pounds. Guinea has a beautiful, short, “easy to care for” blue-ish/gray coat and an adorable smushy face that you can’t help but squeeze a little. She currently belongs to a play group of two similarly-sized buddies, and we’ve also been told that she’s cat friendly! Guinea knows basic commands, is leash trained, and appears to be housebroken, as she uses the play yard and walks as opportunities to go to the bathroom. Guinea would love a home that believes in leisurely strolls around the neighborhood and binge watching shows on Netflix while cuddling on the couch.
