Meet Gunnar. Gunnar is a busy guy that loves to cuddle as much as he loves to play. He loves to run in the yard and play with other dogs. He would do best in a home with another dog to help him burn off some energy and relieve some anxiety. Gunnar can be shy when meeting new people so will need to get to know them at his own pace. He exhibits many qualities of his breed including guarding his territory and herding small creatures. He will do best in a home where he is able to have lots of room to run to utilize some of his energy. He doesn't enjoy big events or being out in public settings like the dog park, so having a nice space for him at home is important. He will also do best in a home with no small children. Gunnar also does best in a calm environment with little loud noises and sudden movements. He scares easily but uses fairly subtle body language to show his fear. A more experienced adopter would be able to read his signs and adjust Gunnar's environment accordingly. He has been started on some anti-anxiety medication and we believe it would be in Gunnar's best interest to continue on that for the foreseeable future. We would love to see someone who is willing to continue working with him on appropriate fear responses, such as self-kenneling. Gunnar is completely house trained and is kennel trained. He knows many basic commands and learns extremely quickly. He has gone through obedience classes in the past, and he loves showing you the commands he knows. And he's such a sweet buddy to come home to! If you think Gunnar sounds like your type of guy apply to meet him today.
