Gus is a friendly, playful boy who would love a new family to call his own. Gus wasn't in very good shape when he came to us in March. He was very underweight and had a severe hookworm and whipworm infestation with bone fragments in his fecal exam from trying to survive on carcasses, we believe. With a couple months of TLC, having received 2 rounds of deworming, putting on about 20 pounds, being neutered and vaccinated, and kept on a good grain-free diet, Gus is better than ever and ready to meet his new family!
Gus would do best in a home with a canine companion - females dogs only (we don't think he will get along with other males very well and he is food-aggressive to other dogs - not humans though), or in a home as the only dog with older, respectful children who will give him a lot of attention. He also seems to be okay with cats. He does not chase or try to attack them. Gus has a tendency to become destructive when bored and would prefer a home with moderate activity. He is a large dog (75#) and very strong, so small children or elderly would probably not be a very good fit. He likes to go for car rides, loves his toys and we believe he is somewhat house-trained, although he lives both indoor and outdoor at his current foster home.
