Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick or hard to place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog! I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs. If I have medical challenges I need even more! The caregivers at Carolina Poodle Rescue will do the rest. Just think, without ever having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support! Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate.

Why am I with a rescue group? Halibut came to us after he was turned in at a VA shelter by his owners. They said he was "too much dog" for them. He loves attention, and LOVES to play. Halibut is going to need consistent obedience training, even though he already knows sit, shake, paw. But when he is in his over excited mood, he does not listen to those cues. He loves to chase tennis balls and bring them to you, just to have you throw another one.
Halibut has a girlfriend . Her name is Annabelle. He's a big ole baby and always wants his way. If he doesn't get it he will boss you until he does. This boy had really bad seizures but thankfully hasn't had one in a while. Halibut is doing better for now with his seizures. He loves to eat and when the weather is bad and he can't stay outside he gets into everything that isn't tied down. This boy is like Dennis the Menace; into everything.
Halibut is a very special boy. He doesn't let his seizures stop him from doing whatever he wants to do! I believe he has calmed down, matured and approved tremendously, but he still has his silly times. Halibut reminds me a lot of a surfer dude with his laid back, easy going attitude. His favorite things to do is eat and be lazy ! Did I mention he loves to eat?! He also loves to roam the fields all day and watches for cars traveling down the road so he can chase them. Although he is a lazy boy, sometimes he can be a bit stubborn about what he wants and when he wants it. He is a big baby and still expects to be spoiled!
Halibut would do best with an active, experienced owner. He will need a firm handler and owner that can keep Halibut focused and happy. His ideal home would be learning agility, a lot of hiking, jogging, swimming, and so forth.
His play aggression is part of he wants to play so bad with other dogs, but when the other dog does not want to play or has had enough of him, and he is not done, he becomes aggressive in playing. In this, he will need to be an only dog in his adoptive home.
He will also need a home with no children. He is too high strung and strong, and he loves to use his mouth. Cats are also not a good idea. A single person or a couple who are very active and want to continue training through Halibut's life would be perfect for him.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.
